Opening & Kick-off | Strategic Leadership and Moral Dilemmas in Turbulent Times

Zaal: Parkzaal
Tijd: 13:30 – 14:15 uur

As companies face technological disruption, geopolitical tensions, and societal polarization, the CHRO can and must take on a more strategic role in the boardroom. After all, the CHRO is uniquely positioned to provide the board of directors and commissioners with insights into the company’s most valuable asset: its people.

The CHRO must also have the courage to address moral dilemmas and deliver difficult messages, remaining steadfast, especially in emotionally charged and complex situations. Only by tackling these challenges can the CHRO contribute to well-considered decisions in the boardroom and help guide companies through an ever-changing world.

During her presentation, Mijntje Lückerath will introduce the concept of a ‘moral considerations matrix,’ where both consequentialism (the greatest good for the greatest number of people) and deontological ethics (adherence to moral principles) play a role.

She challenges us to look beyond operational HR matters and embrace the strategic, ethical, and cultural dimensions of the CHRO role.

14:30-15:15

Holding the key to the “S” in ESG!

Zaal: Parkzaal
Tijd: 14:30 – 15:15 uur

Companies are working hard to achieve their ESG ambitions. What stands out is that there is a strong focus on the “E” for Environment in ESG. Europe is adopting and promoting measurable goals regarding climate change, pollution, biodiversity, the circular economy, and water. But what about the “S” for Social in ESG?

There is still much to be done on issues such as job security, working hours, living wages, social dialogue, freedom of association, work-life balance, safety, health, gender equality, equal pay for equal work, education, development, inclusion, preventing violence and harassment, diversity, child labor, and modern slavery. How do you shape sustainable leadership? And what role do you play in reliably collecting and interpreting data on social issues? How are you driving the ESG agenda within your organization?

Hinrich Slobbe – trainer, advisor, and sustainability coach – will explain in his presentation the role HR can play in the sustainability theme in general, and particularly in the “S” for Social.

Bridge the Gap Between CHRO and CFO for Sustainable Workforce Management

Many topics are relevant to both the CFO and CHRO: the tight labor market, employee well-being and absenteeism management, talent management and retention, employee engagement and sustainable performance, and organizational culture. But who takes responsibility for which area?

The CHRO plays a crucial role in managing and utilizing workforce data to predict patterns, trends, and needs, and to assess the effectiveness of HR initiatives.
These insights enhance the business case, helping you evaluate the Return on Investment of current and new policies, initiatives, and technologies.

At Aon, we believe that investing in employee well-being is essential for sustainable performance. But who is truly willing to invest in this? HR, Finance, or both?
