Strategic Leadership and Moral Dilemmas in Turbulent Times

As companies face technological disruption, geopolitical tensions, and societal polarization, the CHRO can and must take on a more strategic role in the boardroom. After all, the CHRO is uniquely positioned to provide the board of directors and commissioners with insights into the company's most valuable asset: its people.

The CHRO must also have the courage to address moral dilemmas and deliver difficult messages, remaining steadfast, especially in emotionally charged and complex situations. Only by tackling these challenges can the CHRO contribute to well-considered decisions in the boardroom and help guide companies through an ever-changing world.

During her presentation, Mijntje Lückerath will introduce the concept of a ‘moral considerations matrix,’ where both consequentialism (the greatest good for the greatest number of people) and deontological ethics (adherence to moral principles) play a role.

She challenges us to look beyond operational HR matters and embrace the strategic, ethical, and cultural dimensions of the CHRO role.
